Beatport purchases, ready for your WELX library
Beatport is where a large part of the electronic music you play is bought. Checkout gives you a file; the store keeps the receipt and the label page, not your working library. WELX is the workspace where the audio, the playlists built from it and the label material around it stay together.
How WELX fits
- Import an exported M3U8 playlist with DJ Playlists and synchronize the audio it references.
- Sync a Rekordbox library, including track information and hot cues, with Rekordbox Auto-Sync.
- Add a Beatport link to your label’s WELX demo reception page.
What Beatport handles
Beatport is a store for electronic music. You browse genres and charts, open a label or artist page, buy a track and download it in the format the release offers. The store is built for discovery and checkout. It is not a backup of your collection, and the download folder was never designed to be a library.
The downloads folder is not a library
A purchase becomes a file with a name, a folder and a date. Over a season it becomes several folders, duplicate edits, WAV files that fill a laptop and tracks you only miss when the drive fails or you play on another machine. Beatport can show you what you bought; it cannot put the audio on your phone or in a collaborator’s hands.
Two paths from Beatport to WELX
The first path is Rekordbox: import the purchase into your collection, prepare it, and let Rekordbox Auto-Sync keep the library and its track information synchronized with WELX. The second path is a playlist: export an M3U8 list from compatible DJ software and import it with DJ Playlists, which keeps the selection and its audio together.
The label side of Beatport
Beatport is also a shopfront for labels. A WELX label page can show a Beatport link next to the other profiles, so an artist who lands on the demo reception can move from the submission form to the catalogue in one click. Keep the artwork, press material and release files in the same workspace as that page.
Frequently asked questions
Does WELX integrate with Beatport?
Not at the store level. WELX does not log in to Beatport, buy tracks or stream the catalogue. The connection is a workflow: music you bought is organized and synchronized through your DJ library or an exported playlist.
Can I listen to my Beatport purchases on my phone?
Yes, once the audio is synchronized with WELX and the tracks are part of a playlist you can open on your phone. The purchase has to reach WELX through your library or an M3U8 export first.
Do I need Rekordbox to use Beatport with WELX?
No. Rekordbox Auto-Sync is one route, and the one that carries hot cues. DJ Playlists is the route for exported M3U8 lists from other compatible software.
