WELX

LABELS & DEMOS

SoundCloud is where the demo lives. WELX is where the label answers.

Most demos are sent as a SoundCloud link, and for good reasons: it plays in a browser, it can stay private, and the artist keeps control of the file. What a link does not do is keep a decision. WELX accepts the link the artist already has and records what happened next.

How WELX fits

  • Paste a public or private SoundCloud link directly into the label’s reception form.
  • Keep the secret token intact so a private track stays private.
  • Record decisions, requests for a new version and the version each one refers to.

Why SoundCloud links are the default

A SoundCloud link is the lowest-friction way to send music. It works on any device, it can be private, and it can carry the artist’s own comments. The label does not have to download a file to decide whether to listen, and the artist does not have to upload the same track to another service.

What gets lost in direct messages

A demo sent by DM is easy to answer once and impossible to audit later. Which version did the label hear? Was the rejection about the mix or the track? Was a new version requested, and did it arrive? None of that survives a chat thread cleanly, especially when three people share the label account.

How WELX handles a SoundCloud demo

The artist opens the label’s reception page, pastes the SoundCloud link, adds a title and a message, and submits. WELX keeps the link and its secret token, records the submission for the right demo list, and moves it through the label’s review states. If A&R asks for changes, the next version is attached to the same submission.

For artists and for labels

Artists get a record of what they sent and what the label answered, instead of a screenshot of a message. Labels get a queue with context, a decision history and a clean handoff to the release process when a demo is accepted.

Frequently asked questions

Can I submit a private SoundCloud link?

Yes. WELX accepts private SoundCloud links and preserves the secret token in the stored link, so the track stays as private as the artist configured it.

Do I need a WELX account to send a demo through a label page?

Yes. The artist signs in with a WELX identity so the submission can be tracked and the label’s answer can reach the right person.

Why not just send the link by email?

Email works for one message. It does not keep versions, decisions or a shared history when several people review the same demo. WELX keeps that record without changing how the music is hosted.
