WELX

PRODUCTION

Splice supplies the sounds. WELX keeps the sessions that use them.

Splice is a subscription library: samples, presets and instruments that arrive in a desktop app and end up inside your projects. The moment a project depends on those sounds, the project and the library become one thing. WELX keeps the project side of that relationship intact.

How WELX fits

  • Keep production projects and the samples they reference in one backup.
  • Auto-Sync a working folder so new sessions are already in the cloud.
  • Share a project with a collaborator who needs the same sounds.

What Splice provides

Splice offers a large library of samples, loops and presets through a subscription, alongside plugins, with a desktop app that keeps a local copy of what you download. It solves the “where do I find a sound?” problem very well, and it keeps its own library in sync on your machine.

The dependency problem

A project that uses Splice samples references files in the Splice folder. If the project is moved to another computer, the folder structure has to travel with it. If the subscription changes, the files you already downloaded usually remain, but the project still needs them where it expects them.

Where WELX fits

WELX does not replace Splice and does not include its library. It keeps the project and the samples you used together: Music Projects accepts the production project and its associated files, and Auto-Sync can keep a working folder synchronized so a new session reaches the cloud without a manual copy.

Licensing stays with Splice

A sample’s license is defined by the platform that supplied it. Storing a project in WELX does not change what you are allowed to do with the sample, and sharing a project does not transfer that license to the person receiving it. Check the license before a release that depends on a sample.

Frequently asked questions

Does WELX include Splice samples?

No. WELX is not a sample library. It stores the projects and files you upload, including the samples you have the right to use.

Can I share a project that uses Splice samples?

You can share the project files. Whether the recipient may use those samples depends on the Splice license, not on WELX.

Does Auto-Sync back up my Splice folder?

Auto-Sync synchronizes the folders you choose. You can include a project folder whose samples live inside it; check the synchronization status before relying on the cloud copy.
